Places to eat in NYC right now

When dining in New York City, you want to make sure time and money are being spent properly. In the turbulent era of COVID-19, we praise any restaurant that has managed to stay open through what has been the most fatal and financially devastating time ever for NYC’s small businesses.

To save you time from looking in the extensive pool of restaurants located in NYC, I’ve picked a list with the best places to eat in NYC right now. You’re welcome. The best part is, I’ve added my recommendations 😉

1. The Wilson

Location: 132 W 27th Street, New York, NY

Recommendation: If you are going for brunch, which I hope you do, I definitely recommend the Crab Benedict, Hanger Steak Frites and the french onion omelette. They also have bottomless mimosas for 1.5 hours so that’s a MUST, but nothing compares to their Bloody Mary’s.

If you are going for dinner, you have to try the shrimp scampi toast (best starter ever and so tasty), oysters and octopus are really good too. For entrees, the salmon and steak are delish mmmm. To end the night, you should go for the carrot cake, trust me on this one 😉

2. Park Avenue Tavern

Location: Corner of 39th & Park Ave

Recommendation: If you want another brunch spot, this is it! Their classic eggs Benedict and hanger steak and eggs are the best! Please try the tomato bisque if you want something hot and tasty. I’m a huge fan of Bloody Mary’s which doesn’t mean every place is good at making them but trust me Park Avenue Tavern knows how to!

3. Refinery Rooftop

Location: 63 West 38th St, NYC

Recommendation: Any time of the day is great to visit the Refinery rooftop. You get the best view in NYC with the best food and drinks = perfect combo! They have indoor dining + heated outdoor dining.

Now let’s start with the starters. Honestly, all of them, but If I had to pick my top 3 I would say chicken wings, spinach dip and al pastor tacos.

Moving to the mains, you have to try the duck…it’s unbelievable! Salmon and brick chicken are amazing too.

For brunch, I’ve had the smoked salmon platter and french toast, and they were both so good!

Last but not least, the drinks. Festivus mule, red sangria and 13th floor margarita please!

4. Olio e Piu

Location: 3 Greenwich Ave, New York, NY

Recommendation: With a nice outdoor area, Olio is a great place for a healthy and yummy meal. First of all, try their Olio Caesar salad… so good! If we are talking pizza language, margherita or fresca e pesto are great options. Tartare di salmone and the fritto misto are also very yummy if you are craving something different. They have a really good selection of wines, which made it hard for me to pick one because they all sounded exquisite. And finally, let me tell you their tiramisu was delish OMG.

5. Boucherie

Location: 14 Christopher St, at the corner of gay street

Recommendation: If you like traditional french cuisine, then this will be perfect for you! Starters: steak tartare, mousse de foie grass and salade de cresson. Mains: Filet mignon and grilled lamb chops (exquisite!). If you love steak as much as I do and have company, definitely try the plateau de boucher, you won’t regret it!

6. Gelso & Grand

Location: 186 Grand Street, NY , NY

Recommendation: From French to Italian, let’s move to Little Italy for some foodie recommendations 😉 Definitely pizza and pasta. But wait, the Margherita calzone is a MUST. If I’m gonna be completely honest with you, my favorite part of the night was the Cannoli. OMG…Best cannoli in town for sure!
